Presentations of disease: Cervical disk prolapse

If an unstable intervertebral disk with deficient nourishment moves backwards or sidewards, this traps the nervous tunic enveloping the spinal cord and nervous tissues (“the articular capsule”). There are characteristic complaints in the area of the cervical spine, pains in upper extremities, sometimes coupled with weak musculature (signs of a paralysis) and worse perception of senses (perception disorders) as well as with “formication” (“tingling”).

Similar circumstances emerge in the event of intervertebral disk prolapse in the lumbar spine with a respective irradiation in lower extremities.
